Then our big monthly wine tasting is perfect for you... On the
first Saturday of the month we select 8 to 10 wines from our range
for you to discover.
It's a casual tasting, no pressure and not guided so you can try
whilst browsing the shop. If you needed to know more, our
knowledgeable wine staff will be on hand to offer advice.
Samples will be available from 10am to 5pm each Saturday.
Porrais Reserva 2017
Douro, Portugal 13% abv
A delicious, crisp, stony white from the Douro? Isn't that the
home of magnificent ports? It is, but the Douro's high sloping
vineyards are ideal for this citrusy style, too. Enjoy intense,
creamy, lemon curd fruit underscored by brilliant minerality. This
delicious white makes a lovely partner for sauced fish.
Hunter's Riesling 2017
Marlborough, New Zealand 12.5% abv
If you enjoy steely dry whites, remember that Riesling produces
arguably the finest white wines of all. With citrus, spicy
apple and floral aromas, and zesty lime flavours, this 2017 is
ravishingly fresh on its own, or with seafood or spicy Asian
Farnese Pecorino 2016
Abruzzo, Italy 12.5% abv
A ravishing, crisp, fruity white from Farnese, crafted from
Pecorino, one of the top varieties of Abruzzo. With delicate stone
fruit and pear flavours and a note of candied peel, this refreshing
drop is also delicious with white fish, chicken or seafood.
Portinho do Côvo Branco 2016
Setubal, Portugal 12.5% abv
This terrific, crisp white is made by multiple award winning
Jaime Quendera using the native Fernão Pires grape and Muscat. It's
crisp, citrusy and stony fresh with blossom notes and spice. Ideal
with prawns, grilled white fish or crisp salad.
La Vôute 2016
Vin de France 12.5% abv
A rich but zesty Burgundy style wine at an affordable price.
Voluptuous and creamy with vibrant spiced apple, peach and bright
Serve in large bowled glasses to let it open out, with chicken,
or fish with a lemony sauce.
Central Victoria, Australia 13% abv
Marsanne and Viognier are top white grapes of the Rhône, here
ripened in Victoria's high central vineyards. Crisp stony freshness
balanced by luscious, ripe peach and apricot with a dash of spice -
a big hearted, new release. Gently chill and serve generously solo
or with creamy white meat or vegetarian dishes.
Domaine St. André 2017
Languedoc, France 13% abv
Syrah with a dash of blossom scented Viognier - the magic recipe
for the pricey reds of Côte Rôtie in the northern Rhône. Raspberry,
cassis and blueberry aromas with ripe cherry flavours and smooth
tannins. Great with grilled meats and winter casseroles.
Alambrado Gran Selección 2014
Mendoza, Argentina 13.5% abv
An absolute classic Cabernet with typical ripe blackberry,
blackcurrant, plum and vanilla aromas. Dense, velvety black fruit
flavours, smooth tannins and a spicy oak finish. Renowned for its
fine Malbecs, this fine red is sure proof that Cabernet is destined
to be Argentina's next big thing. A superb match with roast red
meats or steak.
The Pastor's Son 2015
Barossa Valley, Australia 14.5% abv
Gorgeous, oak aged Barossa Shiraz commemorating the late, great
Peter Lehmann, Baron of the Barossa. Full on and super smooth, it's
rich and chocolatey, with a peppery vanilla edge. It's supreme with
rare beef steaks or roast lamb.
Bambera de Barbadillo 2016
Cadiz, Spain 14.5% abv
A blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Shiraz and Tempranillo. It's soft and
silky with ample plum and red berry fruit and a supple spicy
finish. A charming red for sipping solo, at a barbecue, or with
Bartolomeo Lorenzi Rosso Veronese 2016
Veronese, Italy 14% abv
This irresistible red is made by Amarone specialist Cantina di
Negrar. Taking grapes from Valpolicella's Classico region topped up
with a dash of Amarone, the wine is brimful of gorgeous, juicy,
cherry fruit and spice. Goes well with virtually everything!!
Don Manuel Carmenère 2016
Rapel Valley, Chile 13.5% abv
Carmenère is Chile's gift to the wine world and this gorgeously
rich and smooth wine is a sublime example. It's from one of Chile's
oldest estates, Viña La Rosa, and reveals luscious wild berry
flavours with a layer of smoky spice. This will sing with roast
duck or lamb.
