Vesuvium 2018 Simon's Wine of the Month
Greco di Tufo, Italy 12.5% abv
was £13.99 - Now £11.99
From a family cellar in Campania, this white has delightful
honeyed pear and lemon fruit flavours, a wine brimming with
character. The grape, Greco di Tufo, is Greek in origin, but today
is decidedly Italian. With hints of pear, almond and citrus, this
is a white to savour with vegetarian and seafood dishes.
Sentiero dei Pini Pinot Grigio 2017
Venezie, Italy 12.5% abv
Cool climate fresh and truly thirst quenching, this wine
displays crisp, pure, lemon and grapefruit flavours, a touch of
ripe, white stone fruit and a sophisticated, minerally edge. It's a
'drink anytime' wine but perhaps best enjoyed as an aperitivo, or
with lighter dishes.
La Trombetta Gavi 2016
Gavi, Italy 12% abv
The vines are 35 years old and produce small quantities of
concentrated grapes. The wine has a perfect harmony of citrus
fruit, mineral notes and freshness. Classic Gavi, it excels
alongside grilled sole or herby pasta dishes such as tajarin
(Piemontese tagliatelle) or ravioli with sage butter.
Collezione di Paolo Pogerisi 2017
Tuscany, Italy 13% abv
If you love quality Italian wine, but don't want to pay the
earth, this is the red to choose. It's from renowned Tuscan
winemaker Paolo Masi and is very much Chianti in all but name.
Intense cherry fruit - silky and totally irresistible to drink.
Il Papavero Vino Rosso
Italy 12.5% abv
Only the ripest, most flavoursome grapes from the top performing
regions are used to ensure Il Papavero is consistently
delicious with soft, supple, red berry vibrancy. Sangiovese from
the Marches, Abruzzi Montepulciano, plus Negroamaro and Nero
d'Avola from the far south. A truly luscious combination.
Il Sogno di Ariano 2018
Bardolino Chiaretto, Italy 12% abv
Made using the classic grapes of this area - Corvina and
Rondinella (the same as in Valpolicella) - the juice left on the
skins for just a few hours to lend a delicate hue to the wine.
Cherry fruit, floral hints and a bright, lemony, mineral freshness
- a perfectly balanced rosato for drinking solo, with salads,
seafood or creamy pasta.
