Domaine du Mas
Ensoleillé 2018 Simon's Wine of the Month
Provence, France 12.5% abv
This is a delicious wine from a small cellar in Aix en Provence,
and is made from Provence's finest varieties for elegant
Subtle berry fruit with a classic savoury edge and bright lemony
zip - this wine is as delightful on its own as it is with seafood
or lighter vegetarian dishes.
Don Cayetano Sauvignon
Blanc Reserva 2017
Colchagua Costa, Chile 12% abv
Close to the coast, Chile's Colchagua Costa produces Sauvignon
bursting with freshness and fruit. This vibrant Reserva comes from
four time Chilean 'Winery of the Year' Luis Felipe Edwards and
dazzles with its grassy, citrus and mineral crispness. The grapes
are harvested in the early morning and cooled as soon as they reach
the cellar to retain maximum freshness. Showing vibrant fruit and
stony fresh poise, this white is great solo and with seafood,
salads or stir-fries.
Puglia, Italy 14% abv
This is the Rolls-Royce version of Angelo Maci's outstanding
Puglian red, offering even more intense, silky black fruit and
spice. The grapes, from 50 year old vines, are simply the
best for miles around. And finally, the wine was aged in French oak
to create dense, full flavours of immense complexity. Decant an
hour before serving with a casserole or a rich pasta dish.
Cabalié Cuvée Vielles
Languedoc, France 13%
Mighty Cabalié is one of our best loved 'BIG reds' and this
latest old vine version has even more of a swagger. Made from
Grenache with a large portion of spicy, black fruit Carignan, this
magnificent, weighty red even manages to out power the original
Cabalié. Not to be taken lightly, it's ideal with garlic roasted
lamb, rich stews or hard cheeses.
Penfold's Father Grand
Languedoc, France 13%
If you're a fan of tawny ports you simply have to try a fine
Australian version too and there is no better place to start than
with Penfolds Father Grand Tawny. Based on Shiraz, Mourvèdre and
smaller percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, this
magnificent tawny is uniquely Australian. A sumptuous fortified
wine of great smoothness and complex nutty, raisiny fruit.
