Porrais Reserva 2017 Simon's Wine of the Month
Douro, Portugal 13% abv
A delicious, crisp, stony white from the high sloping vineyards
of Portugal's Douro Valley, famously home to deep rich reds and
magnificent Ports. With its spicy peach and zingy lemon curd
flavours, Porrais Reserva shows that the Douro is about much more
than just port these days, the region's whites offer superb
complexity and richness at very reasonable prices.
Stanlake Park Hinton Grove
Twyford, Berkshire 11.5% abv
A floral and fruity aromatic dry wine. With hints of spice and
stone fruit, this blend of Gewürztraminer, Madeline Angevine and
Schönburger has definitely a strong Alsatian character. Very easy
drinking on its own, it matches perfectly Italian pasta, chicken,
fish dishes and Asian food.
Château le Coin Sauvignon Gris 2018
Bordeaux, France 13% abv
Cousin to Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris is richer and spicier,
yet still with appetising zip. Old vine grapes and a tiny portion
of oak fermentation lends even more richness. Grassy citrus and
passion fruit flavours and a hint of spice. A great all

Vin de France 12% abv £9.99
Cabalié's popularity is down to a rare combination of imposing
richness and easy drinking smoothness. The magical grape mix is
Viognier for honeysuckle aroma and soft texture, Muscat for
dazzlingly aromatic grapey notes, and Colombard to keep it all
crisp and zesty. And of course the other key ingredients are bright
southern French sunshine, which ripens the grapes to
The Prospector 2016
California, USA 13.5% abv
A blend of four of our favourite grapes! Mostly Zinfandel, known
for its big, spicy, black fruit character. Durif adds elegant
blackcurrant notes, while Malbec brings rich damson flavours, and a
little Syrah notes of spice. Perfect with roast lamb, beef or a
Vina da Tavola, Italy 13.5% abv
Another luxurious blend using four of Italy's best known
grapes. Ripe Montepulciano, cherry fresh Sangiovese, dark
Primitivo and spicy Negroamaro for incredible, mouthfilling
flavour. Weighty and smooth, it's best with all sorts of pork
dishes or a rich vegetarian lasagne.
Lisbon, Portugal 13% abv
Portugal's characterful reds are woefully under represented in
the UK. But we're righting that wrong with full flavoured beauties
like Amoras. Bringing together four cracking local grape varieties:
leafy raspberry Castelão, juicy cherry rich Camarate, cassis laden
Touriga Nacional and plummy Alicante Bouschet. Superb solo or with
pork and bean casserole.
Redheads Vin'atus 2017
Adelaide, Australia,14.5% abv
From the tiny RedHeads Barossa wine studio, this remarkable red
gained four Golds and 94 points last vintage. It combines a trio of
Spanish grapes, yet the playful Vin'atus, with its dark, brooding
cherry fruit and toasty length, is 100% Aussie. This is a hefty
red, but velvet smooth. Ideal with lamb or rich rabbit stew.
Le Prince de Courthezon 2017
Côtes du Rhône, France 14% abv
As close as you could hope to come to an authentic Châteauneuf
style without paying the premium. Finest Grenache, Syrah and
Mourvèdre from the regions top vineyards combine beautifully to
give herb scented, velvety black fruit, liquorice and spice.
Spot-on with rack of lamb, a robust cassoulet or roast duck.
