The 2018 Year Summary
13 December 2018
2018
2018 has been another fantastic year for Rebellion. New beers,
new tanks, new faces and lots of brewing.
The brewhouse has been flat out this year, brewing over 420
times, producing over 4.3 million pints.
Brewery Developments
We have been improving the brewery for a number of years now.
With many of the areas now finished we are hoping that 2019 will
see the major work finished. The last sections of the brewery to be
developed will be the packaging area and the installation of our
new bottling line. Look out for news on how they we are getting on
in 2019.
New Tanks

Two brand new 75 barrel tanks were installed in the lower yard
of the brewery this Summer. A brewer's barrel is 288 pints (164
Litres) which mean these tanks can hold 21,600 pints (12274 Litres)
of beer each! Known as Unitanks, they can be used as both
fermenters and conditioning vessels. They have added a lot of extra
storage capacity to the brewery, space we need during the busy
summer months and around Christmas. They are insulated and designed
to live outside in the elements, which is lucky as they are too
tall to go in the production areas and stay in the
yard.
2018 World Great Series
Our 2018 beer range celebrated world greats, notable figures
that have shaped the modern world such as Einstein, Columbus and
Galileo. In 2016 our range was English Greats, 2017 was the year of
Great Britons and after World Greats this year we have come to the
end of the 'Greats' monthly beer ranges. The monthly beers this
year were a massive success. Designed by Ed, our Head brewer, the
range has pushed our brewers to produce interesting and varied
beers for you, giving us the chance to try new hops and different
malt blends. We hope you got the chance to try them all and enjoyed
them as much as we did.
New Beers

2018 was Rebellion's 25th anniversary year and we produced a
special beer to celebrate. "25" was a Belgian style pale ale brewed
with Sterling hops, citrus peel and Belgian ale yeast. We brewed
two batches, one in April and again in July and we had lots of
great feedback from those who tried some.
Black, our first bottled stout, was released in March as our
spring seasonal bottled beer. Using five specialty malts and cocoa
nibs, this was full of flavours such as smooth coffee and chocolate
notes.
Making its comeback to the bottled beer line-up was White, our
Belgian style Witbier. This spicy, citrussy beer is our summer
seasonal bottled beer and was very well received and we're looking
forward to next year's brew already.
24 Carat, our hoppy American Pale Ale has been in our bottled
beer range for a few years and this year we decided to produce an
unfiltered draught version. This had all the crisp hoppy character
of the bottled beer and as it was unfiltered was naturally cloudy.
We were very happy with the results and got great feedback.
Online Shop
Our online shop continues to develop after its launch in
December 2017. This year we have added fresh beer to the product
list. You can now order 1 litre and 5 litres of fresh beer and it
will be delivered by courier. It has been a very popular service so
far. Next year, developments to the membership signup and members'
area are planned. This will allow members to login and receive
their discount online, renew their membership as well check how
many members nights they have left.
Open Nights
We have continued to improve both the monthly public and members
open evenings. More beer, more music, more bars and more seating
have made a difference and we think the nights have never been
better. To all those who have enjoyed a pint or two, we hope you
had a great time and we thank you all for coming. We will continue
to improve the nights and feedback is welcomed.
Awards
It's always great to win awards and this year we've been lucky
enough to receive the following.
Lager: Gold in the Midlands region at the SIBA Independent Beer
Awards
Lager: Great taste 1 star
Business of the year: Windsor & Maidenhead Business
awards
2019
Charity Open Weekend 2019
Our charity Open Weekend will take place on 29th & 30th
June, put it in the diary and look out for more information in the
new year. We will again be raising money for Scannappeal.
2019 Beer Series

The 2019 series is going to be the "Aviator Range" with beers in
the series varying in style and character and hopefully keeping you
on your toes. The artwork for the beers has been designed by a
friend of the brewery and illustrator, Matt Reavey, who has
designed the pump clips every year since the brewery started. The
12 beers show Roger, our fictional, over-confident amateur pilot in
various tricky situations. We hope you enjoy the beers.
We are continually grateful to all of you for the support you
show us and our beer.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Cheers
