Top Tips - Take Away Draught Beer
22 April 2020
You can't go to the pub, but you've
got some of our take-away draught beer so all is good. By draught
we're talking 1 or 3 litre bottles, 5 litre tins, 18 pint boxes and
22 pint mini barrels.
Here are a few tips to enjoy your beer
at its best.
Don't Let it Hang
Around
As soon as you open the container
(excluding the 22 pint mini barrel) it's going to start losing
life, so try and enjoy the beer on the day you open it. It will be
perfectly drinkable the next day.
22 pint mini barrels are designed to
let you enjoy top quality beer for up to 4 weeks.
Bottled beers have a shelf life of a
year but will benefit from being enjoyed sooner rather than
later.
Keep it Cool
Store your beers somewhere cool, in
the garage or shed is good. If it is hot, puts them in the fridge
and take out 30 min before drinking.
*Be aware that keeping our draught
beers in the fridge can result in a chill haze, a harmless,
tasteless cloudy effect caused by the protein getting cold*
Serving
Temperature
Copper and darker beers may be best
drunk at about room temperature, this will bring out the malty
flavours and give a nice full mouthfeel.
Lighter beers like Zebedee can benefit
from being served a bit cooler. This will enhance their refreshing
qualities.
Bottles of lager should always be
enjoyed straight from the fridge.
But the beer is for you to enjoy so
drink the beer at the temperature you like it.
Glassware
Make sure your glasses are clean,
nothing kills the life of beer like a dirty glass. Clean and rinse
well, any soap left in the glass will kill that lovely head and
take life from the beer.
Snacks & Food
Make sure you have got your favourite
snacks to hand. A good snack can really enhance a beer drinking
experience so reach for your crisps, nuts, scratchings, biltong
etc. whatever you love. If you love your food think about choosing
the beer to match the meal, or the other way round.
