New Development Beer: West Coast IPA
25 July 2022

The next beer in our very popular development brewery series is
a 5.5% West Coast IPA (WCIPA).
West Coast IPAs are traditionally known for their clear
appearance, bold hop aroma, high bitterness, and citrus and piney
notes and flavours.
Our WCIPA certainly doesn't hold back with its the big hop
personality. Expect punchy hop flavours from the Cascade, Citra and
Amarillo hops which pack the beer full of citrussy notes such as
zesty grapefruit, orange and lime. The pleasingly dry and bitter
finish is balanced by a light malty flavour, but no doubt this beer
is all about the hop!
A Brief History of the West Coast IPA
The first American 'craft beer' of the traditional English IPA
style is generally believed to have been brewed by Anchor Brewery
of San Francisco in 1975 using whole Cascade hops. Though West
Coast Ales have fallen slightly out of fashion, outshined by the
New England IPA, WCIPAs are still credited with kickstarting the
craft beer revolution in America.
Enjoy our WCIPA exclusively from the Tap Yard for the next few
weeks.
