National Beer Awards!
Last week our beers won awards at not only regional level, but
also in a national competition.
Very briefly to explain how the SIBA beer awards work. SIBA
stands for the Society of Independent Brewers and exists to
represent the interests of the growing number of independent
breweries in Britain. You can find more info about them here -
https://www.siba.co.uk/about-siba/.
Each year, SIBA holds regional beer competitions for cask, keg
and bottled/canned beer. Breweries can enter beers into their
regional competitions, with the winning beers moving forward to the
national finals, held at BeerX, SIBA's annual beer and brewing
trade event. Here they hold not only the finals of the competition,
but also the AGM, talks, seminars and panels.
Brewers have to enter their beers into a category that
represents the specific beer's style and strength, with judges then
tasting comparable beers.
Rebellion falls into the Midlands region and last week our
regional competition for keg beer took place. We entered three of
our keg beers. 24 Carat, Black and Lager.

Regional Keg Results
Lager - Gold - Session Lager & Pilsners
Black - Gold - British Dark Beer (4.5% -
6.4%)
24 Carat - Silver - Premium Pale Ale (4.4% -
5.4%)
Winning their categories, Lager and Black moved forward to the
national finals. Earlier this year our bottled lager and cask
Overthrow won gold in their competitions and as a result joined our
keg beers at Beer X!

National Results
Keg Black - Silver - Keg British Dark Beers (4.5 to
6.4%)
Cask Overthrow - Bronze - Cask British Bitters
(up to 4.4%)
Bottled Lager - Bronze - Session Lager &
Pilsners
Keg Lager - Didn't win this time.
Ed Bates, our Head Brewer, "It's always nice to win awards. We
think our beer is good but it's great to have that confirmed in a
national competition. I'm most pleased to see us pick up a medal in
every category that we entered as this shows that we are
consistently meeting the high standards we set ourselves.
The production team are our own harshest critics so it's
satisfying to see our beers recognised as it helps to reaffirm that
all the extra effort we put in is worth it."
If you've not tried the award-winning lineup, they are available
at the brewery to take home and enjoy with the exception of the keg
Black which is exclusively available at our Tap Yard. You can also
find Overthrow and lager served at many of trade customers in the
area, use our beer finder to find who's taken recent delivery.
